If you have not sold your house yet,
it's probably because it lacks maximum"sell appeal".
The ideal used home listing should look like a brand new fully furnished house with nobody living in it. (kind of a hard transformation to effect). However, there's always something an owner can have done to make the home more attractive.
Talk With Your Realtor. Make an improvement list. A chronological one (what the prospective purhaser sees after first exiting the vehicle, etc.) Then call me!
Typical "turn-off areas" are:
last year's leaves
the cracks at the bottom of the exterior trim boards
the kick plate under the front door
and the scuffed floor area just inside
the blackened area in and around the fireplace
the scratches/chips in the woodwork
the soft spot in the floor at the drain end of the tub
the really not very white ceilings
the loose door handles
the leak around the chimney
and on and on.
Sharp kitchens and baths, etc sell houses. Something as simple as:
a new toilet seat or new shiny sink faucet
a kitchen cabinet door/drawer tune up
new full view front storm door
new front sidewall and window trim
or perhaps just a quick pressure wash
can go a long way towards making your house more attractive. (and eliminate future home inspectors problems).
